Talk:Army
From HammerWiki
I am having a little difficulty with the latest changes to this page, as I think the page lost a bit of clarity and encyclopedic feel. But since that might just be because I wrote the original bits, maybe someone else could have a neutral look or flesh it out a bit more? --Bishop 09:32, 8 June 2007 (CDT)
[edit] Race or Faction?
(continued from Talk:Dark Elf)
The latest news from EA Mythic seems to show that player characters will be members of elite factions within their overall armies. We need to figure out how the wiki should be set up to represent this - e.g. should the main article for the Imperial army be called The Empire or the Order of the Griffon?
It's been proposed that the race articles (Dwarf, Greenskins, High Elf, etc) be used to present the lore, background and general big picture of each race/nation, while the faction articles (The Oathbearers, The Bloody Sun Boyz, House Ulthorin, etc) be used to present the careers and in-game details of each army in WAR. While this approach would strictly be more accurate, it might not be the best approach to take for the sake of convenience. I'm willing to bet that 90% of people using the wiki will look first for "Dwarf", and then secondly for "The Oathbearers".
Then again, the devs seem to have made their position clear. In their eyes, characters should be referring to themselves as "a Witch Hunter of the Order of the Griffon", rather than "a Witch Hunter from the Empire". It may be a minor distinction, but it deals with a fairly fundamental area of the game (and hence the wiki). --Pendrako 05:14, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
