Tactic

Tactics in WAR are abilities that you can buy with the points that you gain for leveling. They provide small gains (typically +5%) in various skills or aspects of your character. You can change them when you're not in combat. Choosing the current set of active Tactics allows you to specialize your character for an expected situation at hand, for example: Ironbreakers can use Ancestral Hatred which increases damage against Greenskins, while Black Orcs have access to I Hates Stunties which increases damage to Dwarfs.
Before entering into a battle, tactics are chosen and slotted into the Strategy bar according to what you feel will be most useful in the upcoming fight. This gives a little more ability to make your character how you want it to be, and also adds more strategy. It also allows you to have, say, one tactics-load out that is tweaked for performance in solo play, and another that you switch to when you group up to perform a certain task.
Switching tactics load out is done through a simple drop down menu in the UI.
Example tactics include: Blood Up, Fight, Mighty Blow, Eye in the Sky, Seeing Red, Press the Attack, Death Wish, Hard Headed, and Don't Let it Show.

[edit] Tactics Slots
As you progress through the game, you gain many tactics abilities. They are divided into three sub-categories, General (Career Tactics), RvR (Renown Tactics) and PvE (Tome Tactics). The catch, however, is that you can only slot (use) a limited number at a time.
Tactic slots are unlocked as your level increases:

As a general rule, you will acquire tactics in the following sequence:
- First, your character will acquire a Renown Tactic first (at level 2+ after gaining 2 or more renown points, talking to a Renown Trainer at the first War Camp, and purchasing a renown tactic.
- Next, you can acquire a Career Tactic at level 11 (or so) from your Career Trainer.
- Finally, you can acquire a Tome Tactic at level 20+ if you take the time to find and complete two of the Man Tactic tome unlocks.

Tome Tactics are gained from unlocking entries (Tactic Fragments) in the Bestiary section of the Tome of Knowledge. There are several different types of tome tactic available to unlock. These are:

- Greenskin Tactic
- Man Tactic
- Mythical Tactic
- Skaven Tactic
